Effective date: June 26, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how OrderByVoice (OBV", "we", "us) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use orderbyvoice.com.
We collect information you provide directly: your email address, name, and password when you create an account. We collect information you generate while using OBV: shopping lists, item names, store selections, and quantity information. We collect approximate location data when you search for nearby stores — this is used only to find stores near you and is not stored permanently. We collect standard server logs including IP addresses and browser type for security and debugging purposes.
We use your information to operate and improve OBV, to authenticate your account and maintain your session, to find nearby stores based on your location, to sync your shopping lists across devices and with people you choose to share with, and to communicate with you about your account. We do not sell your information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising.
When you share a list with another user or via a share link, that person can see the list contents including item names and quantities. You control who has access and at what permission level. You can revoke access at any time.
OBV participates in the Amazon Associates Program. When you click an Amazon link generated by OBV, Amazon may set a cookie on your browser. This cookie is set by Amazon, not OBV, and is governed by Amazon's own privacy policy. OBV earns a commission on qualifying purchases made through these links. As an Amazon Associate, OBV earns from qualifying purchases.
OBV uses secure, httponly session cookies to keep you logged in. These cookies contain no personal information — only a session token used to authenticate your requests. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Session tokens are stored securely and invalidated on logout.
Your account and list data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and associated data at any time by selecting "Remove Account" from the account menu.
OBV is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at orderbyvoice@gmail.com and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of OBV after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
